Over the past 15 years, the National Federation of the Blind has been
committed to helping blind youth realize that they can succeed in STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. We have held programs
at our National headquarters which have allowed us to develop techniques
for teaching STEM concepts that make them accessible for everyone. Graduates
of our programs are working in a variety of STEM related careers.

Now we want to bring our STEM programs to you! We are looking for
affiliates who are interested in hosting a STEM program for youth in the Fall
of 2020. Participating affiliates will be trained in a variety of STEM
lessons at a seminar in Baltimore scheduled for May 8 – 9, 2020. In
addition, they will receive financial support to put on a day-long STEM
workshop for youth in the Fall using a selection of these lessons.

If this is a program your affiliate is interested in holding, please email
Karen Anderson, Education Programs Coordinator, at kanderson at nfb.org, or
call her at (410) 659-9314 extension 2243, to answer the following questions
:

Do you have someone identified who can attend the training in Baltimore?
This means participants will fly in on May 7, 2020 and depart on May 10,
2020. This individual does not need to have experience in STEM.

Do you know blind youth in your state or have ideas about how to recruit
new participants?

Are you aware of any existing STEM programming in your state?

Do you have a Fall or Spring convention?

This program will need to be completed between September and December, 2020.
If you have a Spring convention and are still interested in holding this
program, how do you plan to facilitate the program?

We are looking forward to working with you to bring STEM2U to your
affiliate in 2020!
