I am apologetically late, but here at member request is the December update from the WV Assistive Technology System (WVATS), at the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities (WVUCED).

WVATS NEWS
WVATS had its first meeting with the Mid-Atlantic ADA and AT Champions. WVATS has found 2 young professionals to represent the state of WV. Mark and Hope will be showing off AT on social media for WVATS in the very near future. This project will last 6 months and be posting frequently on our social media outlets.

WVATS welcomed two OT labs into the WVATS demonstration lab and to great success. The two groups of twenty students were given 5 scenarios in which they had to find AT in the loan library to assist in the case. WVATS staff was nearby to coach and explain different technology to the students. This is a great way for WVATS to spread the message and get more contacts around the state.

THERE'S AN APP FOR THAT
123 Kids Fun Christmas Tree (free)
123 Kids Fun Christmas Tree app is free and lets the user decorate a variety of Christmas trees with ornaments. This app is great for fun and recreation during the holidays. The simple drag and drop menu is made for individuals with fine motor dexterity issues. Depending on the needs/interests of the user, music within the app can be turned on and off.

Sleeps to Christmas (free)
Sleep is very important for development and this includes during the holiday season when children may be anxious about Santa's arrival. The app provides choices of characters to hold a sign that counts down the nights, hours, minutes, and seconds to Christmas. This app provides a comforting routine for the holiday season. Try shaking your iPhone or iPad to see if you hear Santa's sleigh bell noises!

Toonia Cardcreator ($0.99)
Great for individuals with fine motor needs, this app lets the user create, customize, and arrange artwork for a card and add a personal note. Cards can be sent electronically or shared to social media. A great form of AAC to switch things up for the holiday season or a way to send a few heartfelt Christmas cards.
