I am going to forward an email to the list, and I'm just wondering how others feel about it. I thought since this was was a discussion group this might be something to talk about. I'm going to forward an email concerning the new inclusive Barbie doll who is blind. the wording of this upsets me. if they wanted to make a regular Barbie doll with a Mobility cane I wouldn't have a problem with that. I wouldn't buy one, but that's not the point. this description says that this Barbie has clothes with contrasting closures and enlarged buttonholes and elastic waist skirt making the clothes easy to take on and off. to me, that makes it look like we can't dress ourselves in everyday clothes. then it says that the Barbies eyes are staring upward and outward or something like most blind people look. not all blind people have eyes that look like that! why could they not have just made a normal Barbie doll and giving her a cane. anyway, I will forward the email and see what everyone else thinks.
