Dear Friends and neighbors,  

As you reflect during this season of gratitude, think about how you’ve adapted to challenges and a new way of living. This is something a person with vision loss or blindness experiences regularly.

Leda is adapting her approach to safely cooking because of her vision loss this year. Abby adapted to online learning as a result of not receiving the assistance she would normally have in a school setting.

Empowering Youth

Meet Abby Duffy, a Senior at Concord High School.  Abby adapted to online learning as a result of not receiving the assistance she would normally have in a school setting.

“Blindness does not stop someone from doing anything, they just might do it differently than the sighted,” says Abby Duffy, a seventeen-year-old senior in high school, feminism advocate, future college student, and gold medalist for the National Adaptive Alpine Ski Racing Team

Services for Seniors

Meet Leda Seymore, Silver Retreat 2021 Attendee. Leda is adapting her approach to safely cooking because of her vision loss this year.

“I know that I am going to have difficultly driving in the next year, and that makes me sad. I will have to adjust to this new way of life and find a way to learn how to adapt and cope. However, meeting everyone at the Silver Retreat did help me. Some of the people there have very low vision but are still so active! It’s amazing what people can do, and I was reminded of that when looking at my peers.”
