Melissa:
My name is Daniel (Dan) Frye, and I have been a long-term member of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB); a member of the Affiliate in which ever State I happened to have been living at any given time since I originally joined the Federation in 1982; and a member of my closest local Chapter. To the best of my knowledge, I continue to be a member of the NFB at all three of the organization's levels, nationally, at the State Affiliate level, and at the local Chapter level. Unless I have missed the due dates for submission and receipt of annual dues owing to the local Chapter, I presume I continue to be a member in good standing. I presume that dues for next year are either now due, or to be received by somewhere around the first of the calendar year, but if I am mistaken in this respect, I am happy to be notified of the same, and I will rectify payment of our dues by sending a check to the home of Deanna and Dennis O'Brien. Since I have attended consecutively every NFB National Convention since 1989 in Denver, Colorado, and before this attended my first NFB National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1985, I have always paid national dues to one or more of our national divisions, securing, I believe, my membership with the NFB through this gesture alone.
Additionally, I observe that you provided us with three versions of your current list of members, designed, no doubt, for the convenience of members who use different technology. I am a Windows user, and when I opened the Word document, I found a three-page list of names--absent any other identifying contact information--but many of the names were pronounced by JAWS in foreign accents, seen on rare occasions with JAWS, but this behavior is usually representative of some flaw in the document. Further, while I operate with Microsoft 365 as a package for my office-related software, I also have Adobe Acrobat, but the PDF document, at least on my computer, would not open so that I could compare these documents to determine with certainty that our names were absent on both versions of your list.
In any event, I am confident that it proves a challenge to maintain an always dynamic list of members, and my observation is not meant to be critical of you or your effort, but instead is simply to alert you to the fact that, first, that the Word document circulated has some irregular features going on with it from what I can determine, and, second, that I did not see my name, or that of my spouse (Renee West), listed as members. We are not particularly active on a day-to-day basis with the New Hampshire affiliate and closest Chapter to us for a variety of reasons, but we absolutely maintain an active and paid membership within the NFB, in those areas of our national movement where we are made to feel welcome and perceive that the organization is engaged in meaningful and constructive work on behalf of our membership and the collective best interest of blind people everywhere. Further, if I were ever requested to undertake an assignment for the Affiliate or Chapter (as I have previously), I would be pleased to respond in the affirmative.
If I have somehow inadvertently failed to submit our annual dues to Dennis or Deanna, please advise, and I will correct this issue immediately by sending them a personal check for the dues we may be perceived to owe. Since I generally pay the nominal dues amount in cash, I will not argue if it is alleged that I have somehow become delinquent in the payment of our dues, where I have nothing particularly that I can reference to document our dues submission.
Thank you for your attention to this outreach. My personal contact details are noted below in my Signature Block at the end of this email message. Similarly, you may use the same information for Renee West. Should you have any questions of me, please feel free to contact me, using any of the methods detailed below, and I would be pleased to speak with you to address any ambiguity as it relates to our NFB membership.
In Kindness,

Subject: [NHLakesChapter] NFB of NH Member List 2025
Hello Lakes Regions Members.
Hoping you are all having a calm and restful Sunday. As promised, attached below is the 2025 member list for the Lakes Regions Chapter of NH in three documents: one for Microsoft users, one for Apple users, and one in PDF format. I have also attached a plain-text member list below the attached documents.
When you have some time, look up your name and send me any corrections needed to keep our member list up to date. There are some members I haven’t removed whom I know have passed away, out of respect for them and our grieving process. I will update for 2026 as I am instructed appropriately. One question I had was, do I put the names in any specific order? Thank you for your collaboration friends!
Have a blessed day, kindly
Melissa
