[NHLakesChapter] Oppose the Save Act in all its forms

Those who have undertaken demographic studies have consistently learned that many will be disenfranchised. I haven't seen reports of any that say the contrary. At the same time, despite massive efforts to show that votes by noncitizens are rampant and effect outcomes, no proof has been uncovered. There has only been evidence of single incidents scattered in different jurisdictions. What did turn up from all the 2016 investigation was that some persons with second homes voted twice.
Please consider those whose living experiences may differ from your own--elderly displaced Kate in life now under the care of others, persons with disabilities in community care or group homes, those who are unhoused or lost their homes from fire or eviction. The SAVE Act disenfranchises many to stop a few.

Hi Randi,
With the proper documentation it's still not a problem. I had a marriage certificate and I also had a change of name form since I had legally changed my first name from Joanne to Jody. I had no problems at all and I think if you have the right paperwork it's not gonna interfere with getting the proper ID.
And with the right ID when you vote it will eliminate the people who are still registered that are deceased as well as non-citizens.

Hi Jody,
I would respectfully disagree. i have been following this bill. The SAVE Act could disinfanchise close to 20 percent of the population. Real ID should sufficient to vote in your state as we have already proven our citizenship with proper documentation.
The SAVE Act seeks to add another level of proof of document and citizenship nationwide, especially to any person who has had a name change through marriage, divorce, adoption or for any reason. My grandson changed his last name years ago to distance himself from his father. He would need extra documentation to vote if this bill passes.
This is a direct violation of voting and civil rights. It will greatly affect people who cannot afford $180 for a.passport and all the paperwork needed to get it.
It's a dangerous road for voting rights. My great grand--grandmother was a suffragette and I guess I am, too. We can't go back to how it was.
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

I don't see the problem. I just got my real ID card last month. It was no big deal You need a ID to buy a case of beer or fly on an airplane. I don't see this is discriminatory at all. You also have to be a citizen in order to vote you still have to show an ID when you vote in New Hampshire.

Hello
Please consider contacting Senators Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen and ask them to oppose the SAVE (HR 22)
and SAVE America acts (HR 7296).
In NH we currently have to prove citizenship under the onerous HB 1569 (which is thankfully being sued, pending a decision), but only to register to vote. The above acts would force us to carry proof of citizenship either via birth certificate, or passport (if your name changed, you have to show original birth certificate, not just current copy with the name change).
Currently Senator Hassan is opposed to these acts, and it’s not out of committee yet. Please consider calling or emailing them and giving your support in their opposition towards these absolutely egregious bills that will effectively remove the ability for thousands in NH and millions nationwide to be able to effectively vote.
Here’s the Contact info including DC office numbers and web sites. The email is only through a form on their web sites, unfortunately. Please still consider contacting, and I’m adding the web sites so you can contact a local office instead if you prefer:
Senator Hassan DC office: (202) 224-3324
Contact form (sadly no email option):
https://www.hassan.senate.gov/contact/email
Web site:
www.hassan.senate.gov<http://www.hassan.senate.gov>
Senator Shaheen
DC Office number:
(202) 224-2841
Contact form link:
https://www.shaheen.senate.gov/contact/contact-jeanne
Web site:
https://www.shaheen.senate.gov/contact/contact-jeanne
Thank you in advance for considering doing this and I hope you are all doing well!
Sincerely
Andrew Harmon
Thank you all
