The movie, unseen, was played for delegates at the Convention to considerable enthusiasm.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt'>Both Dan Goldstein, a now retired law partner from one of the major law firms specializing in Civil Rights for people with disabilities across the United States, who actively represented the NFB, and many of its members, in multiple precedent-setting cases, and I serve on the Board of Directors of the Disability Rights Center of New Hampshire (DRC-NH). Dan introduced the idea of having the DRC-NH, in collaboration with several statewide representatives from the blind, immigrant, and mental health advocacy communities, to come together to promote the screening of unseen, with the goal of raising awareness about the intersections existing among these three communities. Conversations were held, and I am delighted to share that this movie, featuring a blind immigrant to the United States, will be shown at the Red River Theatre in Concord, New Hampshire, on the afternoon of Saturday, April 26, 2025. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.; the movie commences at 1:00 p.m.; and a panel of three New Hampshire-based representatives from the communities referenced in the film will offer comments on the significance of this production, particularly considering the current context in which we are now living. But as a blind, undocumented immigrant, Pedro faces political restrictions to obtain his college degree, secure a job as a healthcare provider, and support his family. As he finally graduates, uncertainty looms over Pedro. What starts as a journey to provide mental health for his community ultimately transforms into Pedro’s path towards his own healing.
