Letter to

parents:
Dear

Parent/Guardian:

Imagine the thrill your child

will get as he/she rounds third base, heading for home with the cheers of the

crowd in the background; or the feeling of accomplishment when an arts and

crafts project-destined to be a future birthday or “thanks for sending me to

camp” gift for you is completed; or the feeling of “becoming a star” after

participating-to the sound of applause-in a talent show! These are just a few of theconfidence-building, as well as exciting, activities your child can

experience at CampMarcella this

Summer. “The activities

don’t stop here:” swimming in our fully handicapped-accessible pool,

canoeing, hiking, over-night camping, bowling-are just a few of the additional

opportunities offered in the program!

New Jersey Camp for Blind

Children, Inc., nestled within the woods of Rockaway Township, Morris County, provides the facility for a

camping experience for visually and multiple-challenged children equivalent to

programs offered at camps attended by sighted children. Since our opening in 1947 many of

campers return year-after-year renewing old friendships and beginning new ones

that continue after they return home.

Our campers not only take home the friendships they have made but a

greater feeling of self-confidence, self-reliance, independence as well as the

attitude that “I can be just like everyone else”!

During their stay at Camp Marcella the children are encouraged,

guided and supported by the staff to participate and to learn to overcome fears

of not being able to achieve.

Camp

Marcella is more than just

a “week in the woods”-for most campers it is a life-altering

experience.

We invite you and your child to

join us at an Open House on Sunday, March 25, 2012,

where you can take in the beauty of our camp and see first-hand what

awaits your child!

In the meantime, please take a

virtual tour and enjoy the beauty and amenities of the entire facility on our

website. Please visit us at: www.campmarcella.org.

This year we will be offering 2

camping sessions: Sunday, July 29th through

Saturday, August 4th and Sunday, August 5th through

Saturday, August 11th. The program provider will once again be Easter

Seals. The cost of each session is $1,050. Camperships

may be awarded on an as-needed basis, upon availability. Applications will be forwarded to all

families completing and returning the enclosed pre-registration form.

Whether your child is a new

camper or a returning camper –we welcome all and look forward to hearing from

and meeting with you. Questions or additional information needed, please contact

Paula Tarantino at: 201-709-4944 or e-mail: ptarantino at campmarcella.org.

Sincerely,
Paula M.
