About the Lower East Side Tenement Museum

Located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Tenement Museum tells
the true stories of American immigrant families through re-created
apartments in a historic tenement building constructed in 1863. The
apartment building was the home to 7000 immigrant families in the 19th
and 20th centuries. Tenement Museum has been described as a "time
capsule" and each year, it attracts around 140,000 visitors.

About the "Foods of the Lower East Side" Indoor Program
Sunday, October 21st 3-5PM (especially accessible for blind and
visually impaired visitors)
Taste dumplings, fried plantains, cream puffs and more while exploring
the immigrant experience and some of the ways immigrants have shaped
American food.
By the end of the program, "you’ll be full – but you’ll also have new
insights into what food means to immigrants, what food means to
Americans, and how seemingly exotic immigrant dishes eventually become
part of the regular American diet. You’ll never think about what you
eat the same way again."

Accessibility note: Please note that this program does not enter 97
