Hi! Nice to meet you all!
We are doing a research study to better understand the academic experiences
of blind and visually impaired college students. Through this 6-week-long
study, we are seeking to learn how blind and visually impaired students
prepare for the semester, collaborate with their peers, use media and
resources, make progress and overcome challenges.
If you are in college or about to start this semester in the Tri-State
area, please consider joining our study!
We will do our best to make this an interesting and rewarding experience
for all involved. And by better understanding the college experiences of
blind and visually impaired students, we will be able to create something
that serves you and your peers better.
Who is a great fit for the study?
We are looking for a variety of students: College Freshmen, Sophomores,
Juniors and Graduate level students at both 2- and 4-year public and
private institutions. We are looking for students from across all the
majors as well as those taking developmental courses (courses to help
students catch up to college level classes). We are looking for students in
the NY-NJ-CT Metropolitan Area.
What does the study involve?
The study has been designed to allow busy students to share their
experiences with us at their own pace and in their own words. At the start
of the semester, we would like to meet with you to get to know each other
and see some of the places and resources you will use on campus (this
interview pays $100). Then over the next 6 weeks, will will ask you to
complete 3 activities (such as: leaving us voice-mail messages that reflect
your studies, recording a study session) and one more in-person interview.
Depending on how many parts of the study you complete, you can be paid up
to $550. You are be free to withdraw from the study at any time and for any
reason and be compensated accordingly.
Who will you be speaking to?
Megan, Marta and Ksenia from Conifer Research, an ethnographic research
company that helps create new services to improve people's everyday lives
(website: http://www.coniferresearch.com/).
