Thank you to all who attended the call on Wednesday night. A lot of important info was discussed, so here is a follow up message regarding State Convention, the Boscov’s Fundraiser, and paying Student Division Dues. 

A few key notes:

Registration for State Convention is FREE this year, so register as soon as you can.

You must be a dues paying member to run and vote in elections. 

Please participate and spread the word about the Boscov’s fundraiser. If the Student Division participates, we get an equal portion of the funds raised.

For the first time ever, our state convention will be held virtually from November 18th through 21st, 2020


Theme: Live the Life You Want; We Care, We Share, We Grow, We Make A Difference!


Host: State Affiliate

 

Registration is free and is now open until Saturday, October 10.

 

The serves as our governing body, democratically electing our leadership and establishing each year's organizational priorities 

 

It is also where we learn more about the NFB programs and goals on the state and national level. 

 

You will hear from the NFB national representative Julie Deden, Executive Director Colorado Center for the Blind

  

You will also hear from speakers on topics of national and state importance, membership, seniors, technology sports/recreation, Braille, diabetes, students, and parents’ concerns, meet the scholarship class of 2020 and much more!

 

Wednesday will be division and committee meetings

Thursday afternoon will be a Technology Seminar 

 

Thursday at 7 pm will be Resolutions

 

At 8 pm will be a Membership workshop hosted by Lia Stone and Carley Mullin

 

Friday will be General Session 

 

Friday night will the Affiliate Business Meeting

 

Saturday will be 2nd day of General Session

 

Followed by our Banquet, which will concluded our convention

 

We will be providing Zoom Instructional and Training session, dates to be determined 

 

We will also be conducting a Rookie Roundup on Wednesday, November 11, at 7 pm. Where we will be highlighting the procedures to attend, provide an overview of the agenda, answer questions and much more. 

 

We will be using Excitem, the same voting platform as National. Members will be send instructions on how to enroll in voting same as we did for National

 

Note: The agenda will be finalized and distributed and posted on the state website in late October or early November. Yes, the agenda will be available on NEWSLINE® too!

 

Details on attending the zoom training sessions and rookie roundup will be forwarded by the end of October.

 

Details on how to vote enrollment will be sent via email after remigration is closed on October 10. Only currently paid members who are registered by October 10 will be eligible to vote.

 

Finally, please consider making a donation to the affiliate in lieu of free registration.  You can donate via PayPal or mail checks to Joe.

Fundraising during the pandemic has been challenging for the National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey (NFBNJ) and still we push on with our educational and outreach programs for the blind, deafblind  and vision
impaired in our state.

We are fortunate to have the opportunity to  participate in Boscov's Friends Helping Friends

2020 fund raiser! Changes have been implemented to
allow us to raise funds while staying healthy and safe at home.

When: Event will be held two days:  October 14 and 15.
Where: Shoppers can shop in-store or on-line.
What: Shoppers will receive 20% on almost everything they purchase.
How: Shoppers let Boscov's know the registered non-profit they want
monies to go to (i.e. National Federation of the Blind of New Jersey) and the
non-profit receives 5% of the total purchase price from Boscov's.
