Hi Ginger,

Danny F is the appointed person for the committee. I think you have a wonderful idea and it may provoke others to try either service. I know I already have a few places where I will need to use one of the services once I am back home.

All,

Thanks to each of you who took the time to submit the form for NFB rideshare testing. As a result of your efforts, the state chapter will receive a $500 grant next year. The state chapter also received a $500 grant last year, excellent work.

I understand that our state guide dog users affiliate is no longer an official affiliate but rather it has been changed to a committee. I’m not really sure what that means or who is leading the committee but I would love to see some of the grant money go towards Uber and Lyft rides for NJ guide dog users who are willing to submit tests for this very important project. Has there been any discussion about this possibility? I am aware that some NJ guide dog users are still experiencing access issues.

Thanks,

Ginger

Hi Ginger,

As an update, I wanted to let you know that I received five Uber tests for the state of New Jersey for November. To date in 2018, I’ve received 121 Uber and 17 Lyft reports for New Jersey. New Jersey has far surpassed its target number of Uber tests for 2018 and will receive a $500 grant in early 2019. Great work!

Thanks for continuing to support this important project.

Valerie
