Subject: [Njtechdiv] About webvisum

Hi Michele asked me to post webvisum information. Webvisum is a capcha that works as an add on to firefox version 3.5 and up. there are many of what are called add ons or extentions in modern browsers. Internet explorer has then too. one of the most helpful and most helpful for blind and visually impaired users using firefox is webvisum. if you look on firefox help you will find information about all the add ons. Webvisum’s most important feature is to solve graphic capcha without the need for sighted help or using an audio capcha. below I will show you the website as it would appear. you can get webvisum by an invitation lets say from me or you can request one from the site. when you get your invitation, you then will go through a signup process. when you have signed up you then using firefox download the add on and when you have it you then tell webvisum that you want to be logged into it each time firefox launches. when I launch firefox, it will say “alert you are logged on to webvisum since that is what I have told it to do by default. when you have webvisum installed on your machine you then can solve graphic capchas. Let’s say on singer laura lee’s guestbook or maybe on the rahway high alumni website’s guestbook there is when you wish to post a message one of those messages we all dred that says type the characters you see in the box. When you are in that field to enter it all you do is hit control and alt plus the number six key. Webvisum will say, Alert, the capcha for what ever site it is has been submitted in about 30 seconds the screen reader will say the capcha result for that site has been placed on your clipboard. all you do is paste with the control plus v. here is a sample of what the webvisum website looks like when you type www.webvisum. you will see the log in and the invitation link here it is. it should also be noted that webvisum can make some unlabeled graphics read easier. I noticed that on singer donna summer’s and singer Kathy Sledge’s website, once I had the updated flash player in and working with firefox, it read a whole lot better and clearer with webvisum and firefox. I haven’t tested it fully yet but firefox also supports the new HTML 5 which some websites are going to to replace flash. the pandora internet radio site is one example. I could see the place to sign up for it using firefox and could easily see what was playing. have to investigate that more. this is a sample of the webvisum site. any questions please post them to this list.
