Hi tech devision members. I have recently been alerted to someone or something making calls using my cell number. just before 6:00 this evening, someone who turned out to be a complete stranger called me telling me that she had received a call from my phone number. this backs up a friend of mine’s report the same tghing is happening to them. I spoke with verizon, they report that it’s a practice called spoofing. there is no way for them to track it. these idiots use some kind of a third party software or something to allow them to be shown as another number other than the one they are calling from. so I’d like to ask a favor. if any of you get calls from my cell, and the person doesn’t answer when you say hello, let me know. verizon says the only way to stop it is to change my number. I think this might be why a very old friend of mine has blocked my cell number.
