Mario,

I tried the website you posted, http://www.radiolab.org/series/podcasts/, and was able to get the context menu, with the mentioned options, to come up when I either right-clicked or, using NVDA, hit the key for the context menu when I heard "Bringing Gamma Back graphic link" or on the "download" link. I am using Windows 7, IE 11, and Firefox 39, in case the issues are OS or browser version-related. What do you get when you activate the context menu: is the relevant option missing or does the context menu not come up at all?

I didn't try with JAWS, since for reasons only it knows, it generally prefers to say "blank" instead of reading what it's supposed to read. Right-clicking or hitting the context menu key also displays (visually) the context menu in both browsers.

Lois, in my example, using Firefox, the "copy link location" command is not present, nor is the "Copy shortcut" command present if I try using Internet Explorer.

I don't understand why the commands don't show up in the example website I gave, because the commands do show up if I want the address behind the link to download the latest version of JAWS on the Freedom Scientific website.

referring to the problem, could it be the website that is not allowing this due to it's structuring?

In Firefox, the "copy link location" command (hot-key is "a") will put the url on the clipboard. In IE, the keystroke from the context menu is "t" (copy shortcut). These work in the versions I have of those browsers.

I want to be able to retrieve the address from a link in a website using Firefox and Internet Explorer. I recall there was a way but had forgotten how to do it.
I bring it up because it is possible in Thunderbird by right clicking a link in an email message and entering on the appropriate command, but FF and IE doesn't currently have such a command in the context menu... or does it?

for example, I want to grab the address behind the download link for one of the podcasts at:
   http://www.radiolab.org/series/podcasts/
