ultimately, the call is yours to upgrade or not, but for some users the
going trend is if you have Windows 7 and you're happy with it, there's
no need to upgrade to 10. but if you have Windows 8.1, there's no
reason, that has been talked about, not to upgrade, that is unless
you're comfy with 8.1.
with upgrading from 7 to 10, a major complaint is that 10 can lack the
compatible drivers for printers, scanners, and other peripherals that
worked fine with 7. another but a bit less major problem is older
programs that work fine with 7 may not be compatible with 10, and in
addition if the program has not been updated by the author/makers to be
compatible with 10, chances are slim that the program will work in 10.
how do you find that out? visit the manufacturers website to look it up.
you can also see if peripherals have drivers for Windows 10.
if you do want to try Windows 10, you have 30 days in which to roll back
to Windows 7. but in doing so, before taking the plunge, it is
recommended to make a backup of the 7 installation, fore in case you
don't like 10 and decide to roll back and you encounter a problem, you
can restore your Windows 7 backup. caution, there have been instances
that rolling back from Windows 10 does not properly roll back from the
backup the upgrading process creates; that's why you created a separate
backup, right?
however, some users who took the plunge, whether from 7 or 8.1, didn't
experience any problems and kept on using Windows 10; and like it.
note that the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 10 ends July 29 this
year, but, Microsoft has extended the offer to users of adaptive
technology, such as those who use screen reader/magnification facility.
as far as I know, it has not been announced as to how MS will know we
are using AT or until when the offer expires for us. if a lister knows,
please post the answer.

Has anyone switched to Windows 10? Was it worthwhile?
I’ve heard some people were happy, and others not.
I’ve been considering switching over, but I’m not sure it’s worth the
risk, when Windows 7 is working perfectly well.
