according to an article I just came across, the free upgrade to Windows 
10 is still valid for assistive technology users (,for a few days).
Here's the link, which contains the article with more information.
for those interested, I urge to read the article to fully understand 
that there is a fix for a problem which has nothing to do with the 
extended time to upgrade.
