angela  here is the key strokes for 
go to your in box or new emails  do not open it 
use these  keys  control and the litter y
now just arrow down go to the one you want to clean out 
now you are on it enter on it 
it is open now 
push control a  
that will high light it 
now push delete and it is gone for ever 
you do this for all of them 
just use the escape  you are back to your in bocx
