Tracy,

Since we are blind and using VoiceOver, you just call the Apple accessibility phone number which I’m pasting in below. Choose the appropriate option for Iphones/IPads and whoever the tech person is, tell them the issue you’re having with your phone and ask them to do a screen sharing session with you. It does not matter if you don’t have AppleCare on the phone any more since you use VO it is a curtosy they will provide to us, just like the Microsoft Accessibility desk. Apple is a super good company!

Also, you need to make sure you don’t have your screen curtain turned on or they can’t see the screen (3-finger double-tap to toggle screen curtain on/off).

Here is Apple’s phone number:

Apple accessibility help, phone: 1-877-204-3930.

Thanks Eileen. Yes indeed, the wording is not clear. Who do you ask to fix it? Maybe I could ask, too.

It was my Apple password it wanted.

Hi Tracy,

It sounds like your phone has been unlocked since you’re able to check & find nothing open in the app switcher. Its an od sounding problem. Would you want to try calling Apple accessibility? They are really very good and they could do a screen sharing with you. perhaps they might be able to figure out the password that’s being asked for.

This is the one thing on my Mac Book that drives me up the wall – since I don’t use it that often when I’m prompted for passwords its wording is not clear enough to let me know which password its asking for – the Apple Id password, the ICloud password, or the two-factor authentication password. I keep asking them to make the dialog wording more clear.

Over the last couple days, a dialog keeps popping up on my iPhone, apparently at random, demanding my password. I have no idea what it is, so I don’t know what password it wants, or even if it’s something that should have my password. It just says “Password required” and my email address.

I tried powering down my phone for a while, but that didn’t stop it happening.

Any ideas how I can figure out what this is and what it wants? There are no open apps on the app switcher.

Tracy
