TapTapSee Creators Announce Next Generation of On-device Image

A new image recognition service from the Makers of TapTapSee may be
coming to your smartphone soon, but this one is a bit different.
The new @CloudSightAPI seeks to take on-device image recognition to the
next level, giving detailed descriptions within a quarter of a second.
Image descriptions are promised to be more vivid and detailed than other
products, with no cloud processing required.

Here are a few examples given on their website:

. lot of multi-colored rotary phones
. round black Michael Kors chronograph watch with brown leather strap
. 3x3 Rubik's cube
*pair of men's black leather derby shoes

Much of this is made possible by the billions of images processed by
TapTapSee and CamFind, cloud-based image description tools which have
been learning about objects and their surroundings for the past several
years. Indeed, a test of TapTapSee yields more detailed descriptions
than in years past, including "Black Lenovo Thinkpad on desk" and "Krups
coffee maker under white cupboard".

For now, the free apps for iOS and Android continue to use the
cloud-based approach, though it is now theoretically possible for
someone to create an app using the new on-device technology. Pricing for
the new API was not immediately available.

Aside from uses for the blind and visually impaired, object recognition
can be used for everything from moderation of images to automatic alt
text for product pages.

To learn more, you can visit the CloudSight website.
