[NJTechDiv] what happened to google chrome

I don’t know what the prompting to chrome to sign I into a google account to use it, it does give you the option but it’s not necessary. I have a google account because I was trying google plus as a social media alternative but I had used chrome for a couple years before I had a google account. It’s just like les the other night. Whoever told him chrome doesn’t work with jaws was full of it. One of the big reasons why I use chrome happened after I reformatted my computer in late 2017 and in January 2018. While I was putting together my music library to get back on the radio show, our station manager was trying to get several discographies to me. On Edge, when you hit the download link it doesn’t go away. You also couldn’t here it was doing anything with the steady tones of NVDA going higher and higher. If you hit download again and again thinking nothing was happening, edge would think Oh you are downloading another version of this Huh? So something ended up taking hours to download. When I tried with IE it wouldn’t download. So I reinstalled chrome which I probably was going to do anyway and I had those discographies downloaded lickety split. 3 GB discographies of foreigner, Kansas, and steely dan each downloaded in about 45 minutes with chrome. To follow progress I just hit CTRL plus J even if I don’t chrome tells you it’s downloading and when that download is finished. Also chrome updates itself. But you don’t have to have a google account to use it. It’s my default browser. And contrary to what they say about edge being faster I kind’a wonder about that. Unless I need to update edge it seems to be very clunky. I don’t really like how it behaves and this is with NVDA which worked with edge before jaws.

You shouldn't have to have an account, or have to log into it to use a browser -- but that is the world we live in. I use Chrome, and accept it, but you should know what is going on. This is the price we pay for all the free stuff on the web. It has to be paid for somehow.
