Information and Referral
This is an ongoing service where staff either provides direct
information or functions as a clearinghouse, directing individuals to
other appropriate resources.
Individual and Systems Advocacy
This service assists people with disabilities to understand their rights
and responsibilities under various federal and state laws dealing with
housing,
employment, education, community access, recreation, transportation,
family and lifestyle.
Independent Living Skills Training
This Is the sharing of any information or support which enables
individuals to function as independently as possible, in the community.
Peer Support
This service is provided by people with disabilities who may be staff
members, consumers, or other individuals who are in a position to be of
assistance
as a result of their own life experiences.
Transition
When the concept of transition was introduced into the federal law hip
responded in two ways:
• Services for students with disabilities are provided to facilitate
their seamless transition from their school program to the world of
adult services which includes training in self-advocacy, independent
living skills and support coordination in conjunction with the NJ
Division of Developmental Disabilities.
• Individuals in institutional settings may benefit from counseling to
assist in making the transition back into the community.

I feel like an idiot, and should probably know this, but what does Hip
do? Where they located, etc?

Hip does this all the time, not sure of what the price would be but can
certainly get them a discounted rate. We braille so many things besides
college, high school and grammar school books. We have even done stuff
for Stevie Wonder!

Sorry if this is off-topic.
A friend of mine who is a lawyer is looking for someone to transcribe a
will into braille. She doesn’t know how long the will is. It could be
anywhere from 4 pages to 20.
She says the document is in Word or WordPerfect.
Anyone know a transcriber, or can do the job themselves?
I’m sure it’s a paying gig.
