Angela, you can go to https://get.adobe.com/reader/ and start by 
unchecking the OPTIONAL OFFERS to avoid unwanted software being 
installed. There are 3 check boxes to uncheck:

McAfee Security Scan Plus utility
McAfee Safe Connect
Acrobat Reader Chrome Extension

I suggest to press x to go to the first check box and press the spacebar 
to uncheck it.
Press x again and press the space bar to uncheck the second unwanted 
software, and press x again and the spacebar to uncheck the Chrome 
extension.

Further down the page, there is a Download Adobe Reader link that you 
need to press the spacebar to activate it. The download should start in 
a few seconds. Once it has completed, locate and press enter on the 
installer file to start it's installation.
