Are you speaking about QR codes? They are the thing these days. My NFB chapter business card has a QR code, and when somebody scans it, the contact app opens in their phone, and all my contact information appears. They just have to save it, and they now possess my contact information.

How do you scan a bar code on the iPhone?  Seems to be sighted people's  new method of giving out employer contact info and job opportunities at job fairs these days.
