Hi list ken with a question. I have a deaf friend in Connecticut I use the NJ relay to talk to her. I wrote an article for the braille monitor but I don't think it was ever published. I have long ago discarded the braille draft. this was way back in 2016. since that time of course I have an Iphone. my question is if I enable the RTT/TTY function on the phone in accessibility, and if I used the NLS braille reader as a keyboard and the display in braille can I call her directly will the reader or perhaps voice-over read back what susan types and will I be able to send that way. Also to read what she types would I need to turn on auto scroll? can this be done or do I need to have a TTY device connected to the phone. I do see Software TTY and hardware TTY in the settings. I know verizon said for a regular flip phone you need a special adapter and the TTY machine but I wonder with the iphone if a keyboard plus display connected by bluetooth and that software/hardware setting in the Iphone i might be possible to connect with susan directly. I wish that article i wrote had been published. I know garry wunder did see it and apparently jane saw it. susan was and is a very special memory to me from my years at the oakhill school for the blind in Hartford. anyone have thoughts on this?
