My husband just got an iPhone. He is also blind.
He is an excellent typist, but he’s having trouble learning to type using the
onscreen keyboard. When he types on a real keyboard, he doesn’t hunt and
peck—his fingers just know how they’re lined up and where to go.

I remember having the same problem. I learned to type
on the phone by opening Notes and practicing, but he had a lot of trouble with
that approach last night when we tried it.

Is there a better way to learn how to use the onscreen
keyboard?

I thought of using dictate instead, but most of what he needs
are user IDs and passwords, and I don’t think dictate works for that. Or
does it?

And can we turn off the darn dictionary, so it stops
confusing things further with useless suggestions?

Thanks for any ideas.
