<div class="WordSection1"><div class="MsoNormal">I thought people might be interested in learning about
volunteering for Bookshare.  I’ve been a volunteer proofreader for
maybe 15
years.  It’s fun and useful, and I’ve read many books I would not have
otherwise read.<o:p class=""></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="COLOR: #1f497d" class="">To be a proofreader for
Bookshare, all you have to do is volunteer and read the volunteer
manual.
You’re reading the RTF file that’s used to create all the different
formats.  I use Microsoft Word, but there are other
possibilities.  I
don’t read every word on every page; I use some Word tools to help me.
This has also helped me learn Word better.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="COLOR: #1f497d" class="">There are also volunteer
scanners.  It’s not my thing, and I take my hat off to those
hard-working
people.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="COLOR: #1f497d" class="">You get some credits for
every
book you finish, and can use the credits to offset the cost of
membership.
There have been years I’ve paid for over half the cost through
volunteering.  Some volunteers are not Bookshare members, and they can
donate their credits to other people.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="COLOR: #1f497d" class="">If you’re interested, there’s
a

you
started.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="COLOR: #1f497d" class="">Tracy<o:p class=""></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="COLOR: #1f497d" class=""><o:p class=""></o:p></span> </div></div><div class="">
