I’m having the same problem. I’ll try your fix. This bug has shown me how deeply the EReader is woven into my life. I’m really bummed without it. I too read in the evening. There’s talk on the reader list that the problem can be solved by going to settings and turning off automatic update. I’ve just done this, so we’ll see.
