AGENCY HIRING RANGE: $3,926.00 - $4,652.00 Per Month

DEPARTMENT: Department of Education, Special Programs

LOCATION: Cheyenne


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Confers with and advises school district 
officials and staff as to appropriate procedures, standards and 
practices required in educational programs for individuals with 
visual loss; confers with governmental and other organizations to 
inform them of services for individuals with visual loss provided by 
the state; examines, reviews and evaluates programs for individuals 
with visual loss offered by local school districts and other 
organizations; trains clients, school districts and organizations in 
the proper use of adaptive materials and equipment; participates in 
child study committee deliberations as a qualified professional in 
the areas of blindness and visual loss; participates in Individual 
Education Plan (IEP) meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides technical assistance and information to 
school districts, higher education agencies and the general public 
relative to educational policies and procedures affecting individuals 
with visual loss; assists local school districts and others in 
improvement, program evaluation and assessment activities relative to 
visual loss; participates in appropriate planning, research and task 
force activities; interprets and enforces laws, regulations and 
policies as they pertain to educational programs for individuals with 
visual loss; assists and participates as necessary to help meet the 
goals and mission of the agency.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of trends in content, materials and 
methodology as they pertain to special education and in particular to 
individuals with visual loss; knowledge of instructional techniques 
and state and federal statutes and regulations dealing with visual 
loss. Skill in the operation of adaptive materials and equipment; 
skill in working with public school districts, their staff and with 
the public; skill in oral and written communication.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience 
equivalent to a master's degree in an educational area, PLUS three 
years of professional work experience as a classroom teacher, school 
administrator or managing an educational program.
