Vision Rehabilitation Specialist
ND Vision Services/School for the Blind

Position Title: Vision Rehabilitation Specialist
Location of Position:  Eastern North Dakota
Position Number:  253 – 26985
Salary Range:  $2,984-$3,481 per month

Minimum Qualifications:
    * Bachelor’s Degree in education, special 
education/visually impaired, orientation and 
mobility, vision rehabilitation teaching, 
vocational rehabilitation, social work, occupational therapy, or related field
    * Completion of course work in vision special 
education or vision rehabilitation
    * One year of related work experience
    * Orientation and mobility preferred
If unable to find qualified applicants, 
consideration will be given to underfilling the 
position as a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist I 
with a salary range of $2,512 - $2,930 per 
month.  Minimum qualifications for Vision 
Rehabilitation Specialist I are:  a bachelor’s 
degree in rehabilitation teaching, 
orientation/mobility, special education, 
vocational rehabilitation, social work, 
occupational therapy, psychology, counseling 
(including addiction counseling), human resource 
management (human service track) or related field.

Summary of Work:
    * Provide evaluations and instruction in 
assistive technology and other vision specific 
skills (braille, orientation and mobility social 
interaction, independent living, recreation and 
leisure, careers, visual efficiency, and 
self-determination) to adults who are blind or visually impaired
    * Plan programming for adults
    * Provide consultation to adults and their 
family members, vocational rehabilitation and 
human services personnel, optometrists, 
ophthalmologists and any related personnel
    * Provide resources, materials, and equipment 
for appropriate vision specific adaptations as it 
relates to assistive technology and other vision specific skills
    * Provide inservice training
    * Provide public awareness and education
