TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The annual employment contract shall be based on the standard number of working days in the academic year (currently 192 days, August to June), beginning
with the 2010/11 school year. Base salary shall be established pursuant to the Teacher Salary Schedule, and based on appropriate education and experience.

CURRICULUM / ASSESSMENT COORDINATOR
(TOSA - Teacher on Special Assignment)
BROAD SCOPE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for contributing to the improvement of educational programs and services
provided at CSDB by supporting efforts in curriculum development and instruction, student assessment
statewide and program accountability. This position reports to the Director of Special Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
*
Master's Degree in Special Education or closely related field from an accredited college or university, with specialization in Deaf Education or Vision
Education
*
Must hold or be eligible for appropriate educator licensure in the State of Colorado, endorsed as a Special Education Specialist: Deaf/HH or Visually Impaired
*
Five (5) years successful experience as a teacher preferred
*
Documented experience providing technical assistance to educational staff, including developing, coordinating, and providing staff development activities
*
Documented experience with student assessment measurements and program assessments, to include data interpretation
*
Documented experience in curriculum development and instruction
*
Proficiency or commitment to work toward proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Intermediate skill level as demonstrated through an appropriate
assessment tool and according to school policy
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY:
*
Knowledge of and ability to apply current assessment theory and practices associated with students who are Deaf / hard-of-hearing to a variety of settings
*
Knowledge and experience with the Response to Intervention (RtI) model of service delivery
*
Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado Special Education rules governing the identification and staffing of children with disabilities preferred
*
Ability to communicate effectively with Deaf children
*
Ability to respond effectively and positively to feedback
*
Ability to participate effectively in team setting
*
Strong interpersonal skills
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*
Develop student based and other performance measures: collect and interpret data; and prepare reports.
*
In collaboration with appropriate program administrators, support the instructional/program areas in implementing academic professional / staff development
priorities.
*
Maintain and share knowledge of current curricular trends and instructional practices addressing the needs of sensory impaired and regular education students.
*
Collaborate with program administrators to support teachers' efforts to implement the curriculum and incorporate State Standards in the delivery of instruction.
*
Coordinate assessments (for example CSAP, SAT-10, ACT, Adams-50, etc.) for students attending CSDB.
*
Coordinate with program administrators in the planning, implementation and assessment of curriculum and curriculum development projects.
*
Serve as a resource for staff, parents, students, and districts by maintaining awareness of promising practices in the fields of special education (sensory
disabilities) and providing current information on trends and practices identified through research.
*
Positively serve as a team member in the Student Services Program, School for the Deaf, School for the Blind, and of the Colorado School for the Deaf and
the Blind as a whole; support strategic planning efforts; and participate in regular team and department meetings, school and instructional meetings as
required.
*
Participate in activities related to staff / professional development and training / workshops as appropriate.
*
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
