Hi Kathy -- I just tried to email you off-list with information
about joining the blind academics list, but it didn't seem to go
through. If you'd still like to join, feel free to write me
off-list at lucysirianni at earthlink.net. Anyone else interested
in joining is welcome to email as well. I'm just hesitant to
post the list moderator's email address here, since this list is
public....

Best,

Lucy

I work as the director of Disability Services at Hamline
University. I
started there in June of this past year. Prior to that, I served
as director
at Bethel University for 11 years where I developed and taught a
class
called "Disability and Society." I also taught a couple of other
classes.
Would like to see something out there for blind faculty and staff
in higher
ed. The issues can be really different from those deciding how
to chase kids
around or do student teaching.

Hi Kathy -- yes, exactly! There are also several doctoral
students, such
as myself, who are in the earlier stages of pursuing careers in
academia.
If I'm remembering correctly, you need an invitation to join.
Once I'm
able to post to the list again, I'd be happy to have the
appropriate
person send you one, if you'd like. What is your field, by the
way?

 Best,

 Lucy

I didn't know there was a blind academics list. Is that for
college and
university educators? That would be great. Please post to the
whole list
 if
someone knows what this is. Thanks.

 Dear all,

I apologize for the fact that this post is a bit off-topic,
but I know
that some of you are also members of the blind academics
listserv, and
this note is for you. I have tried to post to the BA list
multiple times
but have received automated responses saying that the group's
address does
not exist. Have others had this problem?

 Thanks and best,

 Lucy
