That's true if the files don't have DRM (Digital rights Management) attached
to them. If DRM is involved, one will have to use proprietary software.

Try VO with iBooks. My understanding is that ePub are inherently accessible
(they are basically a group of zipped HTML files). So any inaccessibility
comes from the program being used to access them.
