I can't help you with your question, but as one who works with schools, I want to raise a concern. As a teacher, you sign a confidentiality agreement. Using AIRA, since it involves sharing information with an individual who is not party to your schools agreement may well violate your own confidentiality agreement. Even if AIRA's employees sign one, your district may well maintain that since their own agreement is unique to them, a blanket agreement from AIRA does not cover you.

Hi,

I hope you all are having a good summer.

I have a question to ask on behalf of my accessibility access team at my university. As some might know, I?m still in school for elementary teaching.

For the past couple months of last semester, I?ve gotten the Aira service, and I?ve used it to read work from my second graders. I used it to get help reading something that the second grader couldn?t read so that I could help him. I?ve also used it to put together poster board presentations for the kids as part of an assignment.

I?m sure there may be more efficient ways of doing this, but given that I?m a student working with people who are trying to provide support and working out how best to do so, I?m using Aira to sort of bridge that gap until I have support that I may need, or perhaps Aira is the support.
I?ve spoken with Aira regarding privacy before I started this, for the kids? sake, and it is my understanding that they are legally not obligated to disclose what they see in a call.

Personally I?ve found it very helpful in some of the small tasks that I?ve had to do.

With that being said, I?m curious if there have been any other teachers who have used Aira on the job, and if so, what has that been like for you?

Thanks
Valerie Gibson
