Hi,
Hope you are surviving the chaos of your life now preparing for the convention.
I am confused about the dues. You said it cost $5, but the webpage says that the dues for NOBE are $10.
I did pay the $5 which seemed to be the checkbox for NOBE.
Thanks for clarification!
Brian
P.S. We need to talk soon! I think I'm days for leaving teaching in California.

Subject: [NOBE-L] Deadline 6.30: NOBE division dues

Good afternoon everyone,

In order to be considered an active member of the National Organization of Blind Educators, a division of the National Federation of the Blind, it is important that each of us renew our membership annually. The best way to do this is to make your annual five dollar contribution online at the link below.

Why does it matter whether or not you pay your annual dues? Divisions in our organization exist because they serve a critical need within the blind community. When our division membership is low, we risk sending the impression that the work of this division is no longer of value to blind people, and thus the question arises as to whether or not we should be a division at all. Year after year, attendance at our national seminar and online zoom calls makes it very clear that the work of this division is still needed. Additionally, the work our division members do mentoring new blind teachers and serving as professional experts in legal and HR cases where blind educators are fighting for the right to keep their jobs also makes it very obvious that our work is incredibly important to the community.

Help keep the National Organization of Blind Educators an active, engaged, and recognized division within our organization by renewing your annual membership. You may of course register in person immediately prior to our seminar in Orlando, currently scheduled for July 5. However, if you register on that day, you will not be eligible to be a voting member at the division meeting, so I urge everyone, regardless of whether or not you will be able to make it to Orlando, to please pay your annual dues at the link below:

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Orlando.
