Hi all,
I have been an elementary educator for eight years, however, Indiana is requiring all elementary teachers to complete a mandatory 80 hour training and pass the Praxis 5205 exam this year to prove we are knowledgeable in the science of reading. I have completed the 80 hour training, however, I’m having an extremely difficult time scheduling my licensing exam. I have been approved for accommodations, and have been fighting since January to get the test scheduled. ETS disability services has not been responding to my emails, has pushed back the agreed upon dates every time I call, and is continually stating that my accommodations make it difficult to schedule the exam. I have told them I am willing to take the test from home where I have all the technology set up and ready to go, go to a facility, have the test read aloud rather than use a screen reader, and Ben extremely flexible as far as dates since it is the summertime. Despite all of this, I have found myself in a loop of not getting my test schedule, and I am concerned about the amount of time that is passing between when I took the course, and also about getting the test scheduled in time for my license renewal. I was wondering if anyone else had similar challenges, and how they were able to expedite the process in order to get a licensing exam scheduled.
Thanks so much
Tara Mueller
