for the Blind is to provide specialized quality educational services to
visually impaired/blind youth ages birth-21 within the state of
Washington. Our purpose is to serve as a statewide demonstration
and resource center and provide direct/indirect services to students both
on campus and in the children’s local communities. Each employee plays a

Position profile: </b>This full-time position requires a certified
teacher who will work 11am to 7:00pm Monday through Thursday and shorter
day on Friday (38.5 hours on-campus
time.)</font><font size=2 color="#FFFF00"> </font><font size=2> This
position reports directly to the Director of On-Campus Programs and will
be providing education instruction to blind and visually impaired
children. <br>

</b>The successful candidate will: work in conjunction with work with
other WSSB staff to provide educational services to students on campus,
may perform a variety of assessments, participate in IEP development and
implementation, act as an integral member of the student’s educational
team and teach compensatory skills. These may include but aren’t
limited to:

<li>Daily Living Skills
<li>Assistive Technology</font>
<li><font size=2>Braille</font>
<li><font size=2>Use of low vision devices</font>
<li><font size=2>Self-help skills</font>
<li><font size=2>Work Experience/Occupation Studies</font>

<b>Required Qualifications:</b>
<ul>
<li>Has graduated from a recognized university program specializing in
blindness/ Has a current Washington State Teaching Certification or can
obtain a Washington State Teaching certificate</font>
<li><font size=2>Must pass the Braille Competency examination
</ul> <br>
<b>Desirable Qualifications:</b>
<ul>
<li>Dual certification (TVI and, Math, Elementary Ed, Language Arts,
Social Studies )</font>
<li><font size=2>Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist
certification</font>
<li><font size=2>2 years of teaching experience
<li>Masters in education or related field</font>
