[Nyabs] Minutes for may 13th conference call

Hey guys,
I've both attached and pasted below the minutes from tonights' conference call.

Minutes for May 13, 2012:
Board members present: Chancey, Kate, Nihal, Amanda, and Walei.
General members present: Carla, Justin, Valeria and Kristina.

Adoption of April minutes:
Carla makes motion to approve April 8th minutes.
Motion passes.
Introductions:
 
Board member reports:

President Kate: Going to beep ball event on Saturday. Started a face book page. 
Secretary/treasurer Walei: pay your dues please.
Vice president Nihal: was going to CCSD meeting but it was canceled. This was regarding the hunter text book issue. 
Old business:
Funding for student seminar: will be funded by NYC chapter.
 A suggestion was made to use money from our PayPal account to sponsor students coming from upstate. 
Raising money during convention:
50/50 raffle tickets. Winner gets 50% of the proceedings.
Sell mugs, water bottles, or rechargeable USB devices.
Please post quotes of how much it would cost to buy these items on the list serve.  
CCSD meeting: Carla will attend the May 24th CCSD meeting to find out if they can work with us on the Hunter text book issue.
Hunter textbook accessibility: Students at hunter have complained that they cannot get books in accessible format unless they present a receipt to the Access center. This is illegal according to the ADA. Students in other colleges have had this issue as well. 
Carla will get either CUNY or Hunter accessibility guidelines.
Kate will contact hunter personnel to inquire about this issue. She will also get St. John’s policies.

Kristina: will get the policies from teachers college.
Walei has had positive experiences getting accessible text books while attending the Disability Studies Program. He will get info on the School of Professional Studies’ policies as a model. 
New business:
Chancey suggests that we start having Skype conferences instead of conferences over the phone. It can be hard to hear others and we’ve experienced some technical difficulties. Most of us have Skype on our computers or smart phones. For those who cannot join, we can use Skype credit to call their cell or home phone.
Announcements:
Hear the ball is next Saturday May 19th.
Walei is collecting $3 dues for the year. This money goes into our PayPal account and is used in case we can’t attain funding for a project or event.
