Hi everyone,

I hope all of you are doing well post-storm. I have a couple updates
concerning NYABS.

First, some time ago, some of you expressed interest in buying Meet the
Blind months T-shirts. Especially pink ones. If you are interested in
buying a shirt, I can place an order and you can pay me back later. Have
your requests in by Monday. Teh description of the shirt is as follows:

The shirts come in five colors: aquatic blue, lime green, light pink, ash
grey, and light sand. The front of the shirt read, “National Federation of
the Blind Meet the Blind Month 2012” in purple and black lettering. The
back of the shirt reads, “BUILD THE DREAM” with the words “Text BLIND to
85944 to help build the dream underneath in smaller lettering. The Whozit
logo also appears on the back of the shirt. The lettering on the back is
also in purple and black. The shirts comes in sizes S through XXX Large.
Shirts sizes S through XL cost $9.50 each and larger sized cost $12.50
each. Again, let me know by Monday.

Also, as many of you know, NY State Convention is coming up. The Student
Division is meeting on Saturday during lunch in the same room as the
merchants. I am putting together an agenda for that meeting, which is
forthcoming. I have two things that i want you all to think about in
preparation for that meeting.

The first is that i think we should invite the POBC, who are meeting all
day Friday, to have lunch with us with they want. I am in the process of
talking to Maria, POBC President about that. If you have any thoughts about
that, please let the group know.

The second is something I mentioned at the last meeting, but not many
people showed up so I will repeat it. The New Jersey Association of Blind
Students is planning a weekend-long conference in May to being together
student from NJ, PA, and NY to educate themselves about important issues
like the sub-minimum wage problem plaguing organizations like Goodwill. If
this is something that NY wants to get involved in, it will take some work
going forward. People are apply and are accepted to attend the conference
will get financial assistance from the NY affiliate; but ONLY IF we are
equal partners in planning the event. If you have questions or thoughts,
please share them with the list.

Sincerely,
Kate
