> Justice Department Proposes New Rule to Expand Access to Movie Theaters for People with Hearing & Vision Disabilities
>
> The U.S. Department of Justice is proposing a rule to change the Title III regulation for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to require movie theaters to provide closed movie captioning and audio description. The new rule would require theaters to let people know that these types of services are available, and have staff who can provide information to customers about how to use them. Closed movie captioning and audio description enable people with hearing and vision disabilities to attend movies with their friends and family and more fully enjoy the movie-going experience. Title III of the ADA requires movie theaters and other public accommodations to provide effective communication through the use of auxiliary aids and services.
