Join us Thursday, Nov 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Andrew Heiskell Library, 40 West 20th St, for a workshop and discussion about iOS and Android apps that can answer these frequently asked questions:

Where am I? And where can I get some coffee?
Which way is north?
Which packet is salt, and which is pepper?
Is this a postcard or junkmail?
A five or a ten?
What's the deal with the D train this weekend?
is this lightbulb burned out?
Is my computer blue-screening or ...?
What on earth am I doing in this Facebook picture?

Apps for tablets and smartphones can help you identify currency, objects, text, pictures, your location and what's nearby. Our quarterly Apps for Independence is a chance to share tips and recommendations for apps that help with blind life's little uncertainties. Learn about time-tested favorites and the latest releases.
I hope you can join us from 4:30 to 6:30 PM — last-minute attendees need not register and can just come on in.
To check out our other workshops, including upcoming sessions on Unified English Braille and using the web with screen readers, go to talkingbooks.nypl.org and peruse our Upcoming Events.
Best,
Chancey
