Hi everyone,

Happy Thanksgiving, and we have a small gift for you: an opportunity to shape the future of 3D printing and blind education.

3D printing technology is coming. Schools and institutions are using 3D printers to design and create tactile models for educational purpose. With a 3D printer, you can print out tactile models at your home.

We’re interested in how to make 3D printed models more interactive, and we designed several models. We are looking for volunteers to participate in a study to help us with our work. You’re invited to play with these models and design the interaction gestures with the 3D models. Please see below for details about the study.

Objective:
This study is to explore the design of interactive 3D printed models.

Participant must be:
at least 18 years old.
functionally blind or have used tactile graphics/models

Location:
111 8th Ave, New York, NY 10011

Duration and Time: The duration is approximately 1 Hour. Times are flexible, Please contact Lei (ls776 at cornell.edu <mailto:ls776 at cornell.edu>) to set up an appointment.

Participants will be compensated $15 for each hour of a study session. If participants require assistance with transportation to the study location, we will pay for their transportation expenses up to $60 with receipts.

If you are interested or have questions about the user study, please contact us at ls776 at cornell.edu <mailto:ls776 at cornell.edu> (Lei Shi). You will be asked a few screening questions to ensure that you are a good fit for our study before participating our research.

We look forward to meeting with you and learning from your experiences!

Best,
The Enhancing Ability Lab, Cornell Tech
