per the TIA.org that governs the hotel (Travel Industry Association) which is the US Travel Association website. Not a law which I mis-spoke but rule in most hotels.

see below

It is also important to not leave your pet in the room unattended. Stated in most hotel rules, it is just good sense; not only will your dog be very anxious alone in an unfamiliar place, they may bark excessively disturbing other guests or act destructively towards the room.

These are in reference to Pet Friendly Hotels.

  Subject: [Nyagdu] Citations and Sources

Good morning, everyone. In light of our current discussion on policies and procedures: when any of us wishes to discuss laws or policies, let's cite reference numbers, law numbers, policy sources and names--whatever it takes to lend even more credibility to what we're saing. We don't need a hug list of these sources but examples of policies. For example, Let's say Holiday Inns have a policy about not leaving pets in hotel rooms, cite some sort of source from where the policy came or from whom it came to be. this is just an example, so, let's try to remember to do that from now on.

  thanks.
