[Nyagdu] don't know if stupid question or not

Maxx is a retriever, as is Ben.  I wouldn't trust most retrievers with
down-stay alone.  I'd want Ben tied to something large and solid, just to
be sure.  Otherwise, I think he'd be happy to jump in and see what I'm
doing. Like many retrievers, he thinks pools are really interesting.
