[Nyagdu] Things that were mentioned in the 5 must haves forsuitcases yesterday

Hi Cheryl,

I always pack a bag or two of dog food just in case the flight is delayed. I
also bring some Immodium just in case there is any diarrhea. Besides that,
plenty of pick up bags and a Nylabone or toy for my dog to relax with.

Take care,

Lucy

Well what about ideas from NYAGDU, anything you can think of to add for our
doggies.

Chery.

Here are some information on where to find some of the things:

FYI, all of these things can be put into your carry-on, please check your
airlines as what is considered carryon sizes and how many pieces.

* Duct Tape: This is also called painters tape, it comes in all
sizes, colors and dimensions

o You can purchase them online or in your local hardware store, craft
stores, amazon, ebay, etc.

* External USB Chargers for cell phones like Android which are
universal, if you have an apple phone you can to make sure in the electronic
stores you will need something to fix your apple Iphone, or you can use
other devices.

o These external USB Charges come in all sizes like a round tube the size
of a lipstick, or a little bit like a wallet or eye glass case. You need to
plug the charger into an outlet and charge the charger first. Once that is
done, it is good until you use it. To do this, just plus the usb cord that
comes with it, to the Charger and your device. Different sizes and shapes
for everyone, from $12 all the way up to $75. Depends on if you just want it
for your cell phone or also for your tablet, laptops, etc.

o Once you use it, it needs to be charged again, but you should get 1 full
charge out of it, the more you spend the more power you have in it.

o Places you can purchase them, if you are unsure go to a store, and ask
for external charger for whatever device you have to charge. Ask questions:
How long of a charge do I have before I need to charge it again, etc.

* Target, Best Buy, any electronic store near you

* Online, same as above, I also like tigerdirect.com; amazon, eBay, which
ever you can maneuver

* Safety pins: (I would also add to this) Safety pins also come in
portable 1st aid kits. You can get them cheaply at any drug store, but you
will probably have to put them in your luggage that is being checked, it
will be removed during security check in.

o Once you are on the ground, take it out of your suitcase and put in your
backpack or purse. Let's face it we all have headaches, cut ourselves, fall
down, doesn't matter if you are blind or not. You can pack your own, and put
it in a zip lock bag, but keep the tiny scissors in your checked baggage or
they will be taken away. Anything sharp. In the carry on, you can put
bandages, small bottle Tylenol or aspirin, alcohol wipes (if you are not a
diabetic, which we have them all the time, you can get them without
prescription at local pharmacy, antibacterial ointment, bug bite cream, etc.

* Unscented and fragrance free baby wipes: You can get these at any
pharmacy, grocery, etc. Just get the popup ones, get the non-name ones, they
are the same and cheaper than the huggies, etc ones.

Have a safe summer and if you are attending the 75th National Convention,
see you there!

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can have the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
