[Oabs] Research Project--Institute on Blindness

Hi,
I know that many lists, and I thought OABS was one require researchers
studying blindness to have moderator approval for solicitations for
participation to take place. This is generally in place to protect lists of
this type from becoming feeding grounds for solicitations simply because
they provide a sample of convenience. I know that most university
institutional review boards (IRB) also require this to ensure that the
groups are protected from high volumes of solicitation for the same reason.
I know that The American Psychological Association's student list serves
require this as I believe does the National Alliance of Blind Students and
other ACB affiliated lists. Thus, I was surprised to see that no notice that
it was moderator or owner approved was included.
Many thanks,
