[Oabs] 2014 committees

Hi all, 

 

Christmas Eve jitters got me this year, so I thought I'd be a little
productive and send out the committee appointments for 2014.  These
appointments were finalized after the discussion we had in Friday's meeting.
If you did not email a committee chair and did not attend the meeting, I did
my best to place you where I felt you would fit best.  I tried to take
individual skills, talents, and interests into account when doing this, but
also had to consider what would be strategically best for the group in some
cases.  

 

I did not place everyone who is getting this email on a committee, so if you
do not see your name at all it is probably because you have not attended
meetings in the past year and have not notified a committee chair about
joining a committee.  With the exception of the social media committee,
these committees are by no means closed, so if at any time you wish to join
one please email Aleeha or Emily directly.  Amber and I have decided to keep
the social media committee small for now so we can see if it is something we
really need.  It is possible that we may scrap this committee in the future,
as with the new position of Corresponding Secretary we may just need one
person dedicated to public relations and social media rather than a
committee of people like we thought before last month's board elections.  We
will monitor how this committee works out for a while and will decide to
expand it, keep it as is, or scrap it at a later date.  If you were
considering joining the social media committee and would like to use those
skills I would recommend that you use them to help recruit new members along
with the membership committee, or join the fundraising committee and use
social media as a means of advertisement for our bookmarks once they're
ready to sell.          

 

Committee chairs, it will be up to you to organize meetings of your
committee and to provide periodic reports to the group at monthly meetings.
The details of the committee proceedings, (how often you meet, how you
choose to delegate tasks to different members, etc.) are up to you.  When
you've talked to your committee members and have found a meeting time,
please let me know so I can make sure no two groups want to use the
conference line at the same time.
