I know some of us are set technology-wise, but see below if you were planning to save up or ask your BSVI counselor for equipment. 
Hopefully your DS people have already checked with you as Deanna has with me, but I wanted to send this out in case someone could benefit and their university staff just isn't on the list serve.

They have a significant pot of money set aside to buy Trekker Breeze (handheld GPS units) and/or iPads for blind students in Ohio.  They don't have anyone coming forward to ask for them!  There are only two requirements -- it needs to be a student who is BLIND (not just visually impaired -- although "legally blind" would probably satisfy the conditions), and they need to be no more than 150% above the poverty level.  If you have blind students who would really benefit from such technology but they are above the poverty guidelines, let me know.  We may be able to get them to stretch that part of it.
