Hi,

I think the below email says it all. Many of you are familiar with the Uber case. For those who are not, Uber is inconsistent at best concerning following the access laws in so far as guide dog users' rights are concerned. While some have had success at using Uber and other similar programs other guide dog users have been denied access to Uber vehicles which is in direct violation of the ADA and state laws.

This is a case that should concern all guide dog users and every guide dog school. I hope that not only will users come to the hearing but that representatives of GDB and other schools will also attend.

Best,

Michael Hingson

Hello all,

We have the recently rescheduled court hearing date in the Uber case. On Tuesday, March 3, 2015, Plaintiffs will be appearing before the court in our suit against Uber to argue against Uber's motion to dismiss. Uber boldly contends that all disputes must be resolved through arbitration out of court on an individual basis and that Uber is not subject to the ADA. We intend to forcefully argue against Uber's points before the judge with the support of the U.S. Department of Justice, which recently filed a statement in our favor.

We invite dog users from the community to attend the hearing and support our efforts. Uber needs to understand the solidarity of the community around this important issue. All are welcome to watch what is likely to be a vigorous argument. Please note that many dogs may be in close proximity.
Preferred courtroom dress is business casual for nonparties and business suits for parties. Service animals should be recently groomed. After the hearing We are likely to gather for a social event in the Civic Center area.
Please R.S.V.P. to telder at trelegal.com <mailto:telder at trelegal.com> or
410.415.3493 so we have an idea of how many people to expect.

When: Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 1:00 PM.

Where: 450 Golden Gate Ave., San Francisco, CA 94102, courtroom 15-A before Magistrate Judge Nathanael Cousins.

What: Oral argument and hearing on Uber's Motion to Dismiss and informal gathering immediately after the hearing
