[Oagdu] general group email/listserv guidelines

Megan,

Sometimes list members also email each other off list, which means that you
can address a new, blank email to an individual without merely replying on a
thread.  A thread is a group of several emails that address the same topic.
That is why, when you address a new topic, people ask us to change the
subject line.  If you need someone's individual email address in order to
respond more privately off list, rather than replying to a thread that we
all read, you can check your address book that is on the computer for an
individual address.  Any time someone has replied on a thread, that
individual's email shows up in your own computer address book since you are
on the same list as they are.  

I mean for this information to be helpful, not critical.

I respect your decision to leave the email list. 
I don't think Marianne was trying to upset you, she was just reminding you
that when you change the topic of discussion, that you also need to change
the subject of the email itself. I think that we all try to be respectful on
this list, but sometimes it's hard to express oneself in writing, and
sometimes people get the wrong idea of what you are trying to say.
